Dyslexia Tutoring
Dyslexia is a language-based disorder that typically affects reading fluency, spelling, and writing. Children with dyslexia struggle with phonological awareness and the following literacy skills: processing speech sounds and oral language, rhyming, sounding out words, counting syllables, manipulating and blending sounds, awareness of letter to sound correlation, and reading comprehension.
According to the International Dyslexia Association, approximately 20% of the population has some of the symptoms of dyslexia. Early intervention is key, and research supports the efficacy of an Orton-Gillingham approach for the treatment of dyslexia. The Chatter Box provides assessment and specialized multi-modal tutoring services for dyslexia with the Barton approach. - Notes: Dyslexia tutoring is not billable to insurance. The screening does not include an educational or cognitive testing to be completed by a psychologist.
